Emma is now 2 months old, almost 3 months (March 4th) and time is still flying by! She continues to change with each passing day, growing much bigger and developing her unique personality. She has already grown 2 1/2 inches in length and gained 7 pounds. It's hard to keep up! She is comfortably wearing size 6 months clothes and hardly was able to wear any of her 3 month and smaller clothing. It seems she is slowing down in the growth department over the past 3 weeks...let's see how long that lasts ;) Here are some recent pictures...

Last time I posted, she was only 2 weeks old and pretty much sleeping most of the day: waking up to eat mostly. The sleeping all day didn't last long. She became quite alert pretty early and is increasingly more alert as the weeks go by. She is still a great sleeper at night though! We average 6-8 hours of sleep per night, which I am told, for two months, is great! I have had many moms tell me how jealous they are of that haha
More recently she is able to hold her head pretty steady, she has found her hand and sucks on it all the time and when I change her diaper or clothes (any time she is on the changing table) she holds both of her fists out in front of her and stares at them then looks at me with a BIG smile. She loves to get her diaper changed, her hair brushed/stroked and as mentioned in the previous pictures, she loooovvves bath time. We have also noticed she likes to suck on blankets. Her soft baby blankets in particular. If she is ready to doze off, she will either grab her blanket and pull it towards her mouth or Mommy or Daddy will assist and bring it there for her and she will lick/suck the soft part of the blanket until she fades into dream land. It is so cute. She never took to a pacifier. Any time we tried to offer it to her she would open her mouth and stick her tongue out resulting in the pacifier falling out of her mouth. It was the funniest thing. I guess she prefers her fist and her blankets...I just have to ensure even more now that her blankets are ALWAYS cleaned so I am washing them constantly ;)
She has also passed the phase where faces were her only entertainment and she actually focuses on objects. A few weeks ago Matt was playing with her on the couch and her reaction to his finger coming down from the sky was our first indication she was ready for her rattles and smaller toys...
And just as always, she is still a kicker! She gets sooo excited and her legs just start going! She discovered the movement of the stars hanging from her bassinet above her so sometimes when I lay her in her bassinet and she is supposed to be going to bed (yea not so much!) she just kicks and kicks and watches the stars move. I have video of it but it won't let me upload it here unfortunately :(
The past week or so she has been "talking" more and more. She moves her mouth so much and makes so many different noises, alternating pitches that it looks like she is really trying to say something. Unfortunately, any time I pull the camera out to record she gets camera shy! As soon as I catch her on video though I will post it... we chat all day long! I almost fear the day she learns her words....she may never stop! haha but she has the cutest voice! I want so bad to share it so I promise once I catch it on video it will be posted :)
She is definitely a morning girl. She wakes up about 7am every morning, no fail. But she just lays in her bassinet, stares at her stars, maybe chats a little to herself and just hangs out. Once I hear her moving about I pop in to say good morning and I am greeted with a big smile! It is by far the best way to start every morning! Just the other day I had a migraine and sure enough, at the worst of it, she woke up for the day so I got up, went to change her diaper and as horrible as I felt, I looked down at her and she had this permanent smile as she stared at me while I changed her diaper... for a brief moment I forgot about my pain and couldn't help but give her a big hug and a kiss! She literally brightens the darkest of days... on top of that, after she was cleaned and changed, I brought her back to the bedroom and on this one day, never before, she actually fell back to sleep for 2 more hours! Almost like she knew mommy needed more rest to feel better... it was amazing. As I was fighting the nausea and the pounding in my head, we both laid down, her wrapped in my arm and slept. It was just what I needed to be able to function the rest of the day. I swear I was blessed with a perfect baby! :)
She also has sooo many facial expressions. You can see some in the pictures I posted here. Friends say her expressions resemble mine and that she has my "attitude". I haven't quite picked up on that but I love to watch her. Her eyebrows and mouth are the most expressive but with each expression her whole look almost changes.
I could go on and on for days about our beautiful Emma. Almost 3 months old and I can't get enough of her. It is hard for me to pull myself away from her for a couple hours. It's hard to imagine I will be back at work in a week and will have to go 9 hours without seeing her each day. Daddy too - he has even started coming home for lunch since she's been born...lucky him! He is wrapped around her finger and I can already see the Daddy-Daughter bond forming when she looks at him. The moment he walks through the door her eyes are locked on him and she just smiles. When they interact it's almost as if they have already formed their own inside jokes. As I look on I feel like they have their own little secrets together, that only the two of them share. These two will have a strong bond for life I know... I can already feel it! Daddy's little girl :)
We have had an abundance of love and support from friends and family and we are forever grateful for that. Especially "Grammie" and "Grand-fajaa"... they have helped tremendously in our adjustment to parenting life. Without "Grammie's" help I don't know if we would have survived the first month! haha Poor Matt would have starved ;) So THANK YOU!
Matt just got a new high tech camera, and he is learning all about photography so do expect lots more pictures to come! She changes constantly so we have to capture these moments in the best way possible... pretty soon she will be crawling, walking, and talking. It seems like just around the corner as fast as she is growing but as long as we can capture these moments in photo and video at least I feel like we are capturing them in time for us to embrace forever...and to embarrass her when she is older of course! ;)
